THE HOUSE MODDERS TOOL KIT by Vince Bly

The House Modder's Tool Kit (HMTK) provides a way to create new content for Oblivion without having to master a 3D modeling program like Blender. It is not for everybody. Besides a basic understanding of NifScope and retexturing, to get full benefit from the HMTK will require substantial effort on your part, although considerably less than learning a program like Blender or 3ds Max.

Saibot's "housefires fireplace control" mod by Sailbot

Saibot adds a script to the vanila OB homes to allow you to turn the fireplace fires on and off. In his readme, he allows other modders to use his work in their mods. With a little tweaking, Saibot's script can be used to turn off and on fireplaces, lights and other cool stuff in your housemod.
